A Tissington wander beginning at Tissington car park ref:179 520. Car parking
currently £4.75 all day, toilets and hot drinks may also be available. 10.45 for a
11.00 a.m. start
Walking in an easterly direction along Darfield Lane we pick up the track that
goes southerly along Square Plantation. Moving along the track to Basset Wood
farm and then southerly to Cherry Orchard farm at Fenny Bentley.
Crossing the A515, past the church, a fairly steady incline of two halves takes us
to the Tissington trail. Crossing the trail, we walk up to the pub and past the pub
(controversial), passing Narlow Lane to join Spend Lane. Along here we join the
Limestone way taking us to Washbrook Lane and ultimately a walk along the
Avenue to return to the start point.
This walk is largely lanes and tracks so less dependent on weather conditions
and reasonable easy walking with a few stiles. There are also many options to
shorten the walk should needs be.
6.4km (4miles). TOTAL ascent 462ft.
