Wetton Mill, where the tea room may or may not be open, shall be the
destination rather than the start/finish of this walk. There is spacious and
comfortable outdoor dining accommodation just upstream of the bridge and on
the west side of the river so I suggest you bring your own refreshment. We shall
assemble at the public car park in Alstonefield in time for a 10.30 start, the
village hall car park is available a few yards away in the unlikely event of there
being no spaces left. We shall then proceed at a moderate to slow pace down
Narrowdale then across to the Manor House and Ecton Hill. From the summit we
shall descend beside Sugarloaf to our luxurious dining spot before returning via
Thors Cave and Wetton. The overall distance is in the region of 10 miles.
Footnote
Many of you are dubious about rods poles and perches and I have already
suffered the intellectual stress of composing puzzle correspondence using metres
so I have reverted here to 19th century imperial linear measurements.
